don't stop playing because we get old,
we get old because we stop playing."
This introduction is
perfect for beginning to intermediate students, and starts out with the
basics of juggling and balance.
Juggling: ďŌ canít get this,
I canít do thisÖHey! Iím doing it!Ē We start out by learning
the basic 3 ball pattern, then move into simple variations; 2 person
take-aways, simple and complex passing patterns, and multiple objects.
Juggling takes persistence, but it's fun, enjoyable, and is a skill
like bicycling or swimming; once you learn it, you have it for life.
Did I mention that itís fun?
Balancing: Most of us have already
learned the most difficult balancing act we'll ever know - we can
already walk, an act that took the first year or two of our life.
Having learned it, we've forgotten just how much effort and
concentration it took.
What we'll do in this
class is far easier; balancing objects on ourselves (from brooms to
spoons), and ourselves on objects (balancing on chairs, on the rola-bola
and the unicycle).
There's nothing quite like
the satisfaction of suddenly doing something that had been thought
unlikely, if not impossible.
