The Wolfville Circus Club, now in its seventh year, is an informal group that meets twice a week during the school year to practice and explore circus arts. Every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 – 7:30, an eclectic group of circus practitioners from all over the Valley gather to work and play together, to teach and learn from each other.

We meet on the Acadia Campus, outside when then weather is warm and cooperative, inside for the rest of the year.

The club is open to anyone who wants to join, from beginner to intermediate levels to people with sophisticated circus skills. Our members include professionals and interested amateurs, beginners to advanced practitioners, and a mix of ages, genders and professions, including professors, performers, students, restaurant owners and real estate agents.

The focus of the Circus Club is to become more adept and extend the range of our skills, to practice, learn from each other and to have fun. At the club you’ll see people working on many different aspects of circus work, such as juggling with balls, ring and clubs, working on the diabolo, devil sticks or staff, balancing on the rola bola, riding the unicycle, or walking the tight rope.

Every few weeks we have special workshops, where we explore some aspect in more depth. This might be stilts, or stage fighting, or an insight into magic or a special aspect of passing (throwing clubs or balls between two or more people). We regularly watch short videos of circus practitioners, and have special evenings where we watch more extended material and relevant movies.

We also take regular trips to Halifax to the Bluenose Juggling Club, and these activities help us to reach the next level, introduce new aspects of training, and explore unexpected and new possibilities

How much does it cost?
The club is free, and open to any one who wants to learn, so come join us and learn more about these exciting skills!
